Welcome to Main Street in Ossipee, NH

The Ossipee Main Street Program has brought a sense of rejuvenation to the downtown area of Center Ossipee since 2005. More and more a growing number of families, residents, tourists, and businesses frequent the Center from early morning to evening. Whether it is to visit the town offices, elementary school, Senior center, child care facilities, Post Office or Public Library, or to patronize local businesses or enjoy a delicious meal, many people visit Center Ossipee every day. There is a strong draw to year-round recreational programs, the Greater Ossipee Area Chamber of Commerce office, and seasonal events.

In 2008 a park was dedicated in Center Ossipee thanks to Ossipee Main Street efforts to revitalize the formerly vacant property. Besides being a new town venue for outdoor events the park has beautified downtown with Ossipee Garden Club plantings. In 2009 a building adjacent to the park was restored for and opened for business housing the new Main Street offices and additional public meeting space.

The park has enhanced the nearby homes and businesses in Center Ossipee that today reflect residents’ respect for historical preservation while addressing today’s needs. Main Street and Moultonville Road, the Center’s main thoroughfares, are lined with historic and more modern homes and shops that are both stately and modest. The oldest buildings date to the late 1700s, reflecting the town’s incorporation in 1785.

Special effort is being made for new sidewalks and parking areas to welcome pedestrians year-round. Eventually, a path along the railroad track that once brought trains to town could lead to a picnic area beside the nearby Beech River. The goal is to maintain the friendly atmosphere of the town and at the same time promote a positive community spirit among young and old, year-round and summer residents for a lifetime!
